Before you buy

System requirements

A Valerus system has three different machines with three different requirement sets. CPU, memory, and baseline graphics values are minimum specifications. Check each machine against its own tab, not one merged list.

Intel i7-7700 minimum

Memory

16 GB

Disk space

5 GB for installation, 75 GB minimum for recording

Graphics

256 MB RAM onboard

1000 Mbps

Buying hardware instead? Vicon servers and NVRs ship pre-loaded and sized. See their datasheets in the library below.

How many cameras per recorder?

Camera count depends on bitrate. Vicon recorders are rated from 200 Mbps and 100 channels to 800 Mbps and 250 channels (2U RAID6); per-model ratings are in the NVR datasheets.

When do I need a separate application server?

One all-in-one server handles up to 150 cameras. Above that, run a dedicated application server plus as many recording servers as the system needs.

How does licensing work?

One license per device, no matter how many channels it provides. A 30-day grace period follows installation, and a free TRY version is available for evaluation.
